Destination Wedding Invitations the Right Way

Congratulations to all of the jetsetting brides and grooms out there! So you've settled on a destination wedding. Wether it be Paris, the Florida Keys, or Aruba here are some tips on making your life as a bride and groom relaxing!

What is the timing for save the dates for a destination wedding?

For destination weddings, we recommend sending out save the dates a year in advance. For the actual invitation, we recommend atleast 12 weeks in advance. Since people will be traveling and need to budget time off from work and money, the more time you give your guests notice the better. If you are not sending out save the dates, we recommend the invitation goes out 3-6 months in advance.

How can I incorporate my destination wedding into my invitation to get guests excited?

Lately I have been seeing brides and grooms ask for specifics such a luggage tag save the date, or a plane ticket. There are so many ways you can theme a wedding. If you are getting married on a beach, you can do an invitation in the shape of a flip flop, or incorporate hibiscus, or native fauna such as divi divi trees (hello Aruba brides!). Maybe your wedding in Italy has the cliffs of Cinque Terre. It is also always nice to include a cute hand drawn map illustration of the wedding events. For example, a map of the western coast of Aruba with the hotel, rehearsal location and additional activities such as a golf outing or catamaran cruise.

Should we provide welcome gifts to our guests for our destination wedding?

When guests arrive from a long trip it is usually a nice touch to provide a welcome bag. We are also happy to help coordinate these bags for you! Maybe a Parisien destination wedding welcome bag has a small gift card to a local bakery, an ornament of the Eiffel Tower, a bottle of French wine, a brief itinerary of events for the next few days, and some snacks. You may customize the bag to go with your colors and incorporate destination specific elements into the packaging.

Is it ok to invite someone to my bridal shower but not my destination wedding?

Absolutely not. Anyone invited to your bridal shower should be invited to your wedding.
